  REVIEW:

We’ve had Monster’s Ball, Monster’s Inc, and Monster-In-Law . . . well, all those monsters have got to live somewhere, so now we have Monster House!

Monster House is a cleverly animated Sony creation full of interesting characters pulled together in an entertaining story.  DJ (voice of Mitchel Musso) lives across the street from a creepy house where a creepy old guys lives.  He has been spying on the house sure that something isn’t right because the creepy guy scares away anyone that comes near and any of their toys that land in the yard just simply disappear.  When he tries to tell his parents, his baby sitter and even the cops (voices of Kevin James and Nick Cannon) what’s going on, they all ignore him.  So, he enlists the help of a couple of his friends, Chowder (voice of Sam Lerner) and Jenny (voice of Spencer Locke).  When the creepy guys from across the street dies, the kids sneak into the house to investigate what’s happening.  What they find out is the house is a living, breathing monster.  Now they have to find a way to slay the monster to save themselves and the neighborhood and are eventually helped by a very unlikely person.

With all the blockbuster animated features coming out of Hollywood, the novelty may have passed.  Nonetheless, Monster House is an animation sensation.  It has a very genuine, very real, very human feel to it, and the cleaver dialogue and quirky actions are sure to remind many of their long lost adolescences.  The story’s a little weird and, perhaps as it should be, a little scary for youngest youngsters, but it’s also often hilarious.  With truly fascinating animation and even a good “moral of the story,”  Monster House makes for surprisingly enjoyable movie experience.
